The system of detection of flat spots on wheel profile operates on the base of vibrations recorded by a series of vibroacoustic sensors installed in track while a vehicle is running on the length of approximately 10 meters. The recorded data after processing are transferred to a data base. The data processing consists in recognition of vibration patterns which are characteristic of Wheel defects taking into consideration influence of vehicle speed on vibration value. Such an analyses allows to match the identified defects to different categories of technical conditions of wheels (e.g. good, attention, repair).
