The company's history spans over 175 years.
1846
After the start-up of the Berlin - Vienna railway line (which ran through Kuźnia Raciborska), the first steel plant called "Nadzieja" ("Hope") is erected right next to the railway station. In the second half of the nineteenth century, a rolling mill and an cast iron foundry is added.
1889
Takeover of the factory by Wilhelm Hegenscheidt. During that time, the factory is manufacturing various building equipment and products for railways (such as bolts and axles for wheel sets).
1920
The first lathe for machining of heavy wheel sets is produced.
1930
Takeover of the company by Adolf Schondorff.
1946
The RAFAMET, as we know it today, comes into being. During the next few years the company acts under the name "RAFO". With time, the factory begins manufacturing of a second family of machine tools – heavy-duty universal vertical turning and boring mills for users in the machine-building, power generation, shipbuilding, metallurgical, aerospace and defence industries. In the coming years the company's production range is extended into large-size horizontal lathes, portal milling machines and special-purpose machine tools.
1964
As an economic experiment, RAFAMET (and three other Polish companies) acquires the right to independent export and import activities without the Foreign Trade Agencies.
1992
The state-owned RAFAMET enterprise is transformed into a joint-stock company (S.A.).
1996
The foundry is separated from the organizational structure of RAFAMET S.A. The RAFAMET Foundry Ltd. is formed. The current name is ODLEWNIA RAFAMET Sp. z o.o.
1996
The company's shares are admitted to be traded on the over the counter market CeTO S.A. in Warsaw, making it the first company in Poland to do so.
2002
The governmental Industrial Development Agency (Agencja Rozwoju Przemysłu S.A.) takes possession of the 46.72% packet of the company's shares.
2007
RAFAMET S.A. makes its debut on the Warsaw Stock Exchange (Giełda Papierów Wartościowych w Warszawie S.A.)
2015
The new Assembly Shop no. 2 is commissioned.
2016
Acquisition of the POREBA trademark.
2021
The governmental Industrial Development Agency (Agencja Rozwoju Przemysłu S.A.) takes possession of the 91,27% packet of the company's shares.
2023
The governmental Industrial Development Agency (Agencja Rozwoju Przemysłu S.A.) takes possession of the 93% packet of the company's shares.
